Halo, Forza, Minecraft ... Xbox One will risk with the exclusives
Microsoft wants to use its franchise base, yes, but wants to expand them creatively.
Matt Booty, who a few months ago we told you that it was the new number 2 of Xbox, has spoken with the British magazine MCVUK in its latest physical issue on major brands of Microsoft and the intention of the company to invest more in Xbox games.
"We are lucky to have a large number of established franchises," acknowledged Booty. "When you think about the Halo saga, the Forza brand or Minecraft, each one has more than a decade or almost ten years of titles behind them, we need to use those brands as a base from which we can expand. take risks with them. "
"With games being as big as they are now and with the movement of games towards services, it is difficult to pivot with speed and try to adapt to the trends that can happen, even with the scale of one year. The year can be a long time but the developments are three or four years so you have to think things through, "explained the executive. "We have to make strategic long-term bets, take care of our development cycles and the things that the players like to do at the same time, all of which will end up making us succeed."
One of the first moments to begin to see these risky maneuvers could be the imminent E3 2018, a North American fair to which Microsoft has already warned that it will go with everything.
