Overwatch Guide - Tips, tips and secrets

Master each hero, understand the ins and outs of the Blizzard game and improve your skills.

Maybe Overwatch was born with modest origins: from the ashes of a discarded sequel to World of Warcraft and content justito. However, the dedication of Blizzard and its community has enshrined it as one of the most important games in the eSports world and also among the most popular casual multiplayer. In this guide, we share and attach all the information you may need about your characters, events and intricacies.

We also know that Overwatch is a game in constant evolution. Of course! And you should not worry: this guide will also be updated with tips and secrets of each character, mode or event that reaches the hero sand par excellence of recent times. You can also visit a complete Overwatch guide with all the details you may need about the skills and maps of the game.

Tanks: general overview and tips

"I am your shield!" Characters that hold the team together.

Traditionally, a tank is a very healthy character that resists damage and exercises moderate damage. In Overwatch, this is no less true. However, there are many variations of this same concept. For example, Reinhardt carries a prominent shield that he can use to protect the entire team, while Roadhog has no protection whatsoever and depends entirely on its ability to self-heal.

Thus, each tank has unique variations and characteristics very different from what you would expect from a traditional character. In fact, some like D. Va, Wrecking Ball or Winston enjoy excellent mobility, and others like Brigitte have a dual role (healer and tank, secondarily, in this case).

The Overwatch tanks are D. Va, Orisa, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Winston, Wrecking Ball and Zarya.

Damage: overview and tips

"Die, die, die!" Devastating characters for the rival.

Does not much of us say that there are so many ways to hurt? Well, there was a time when the Overwatch template was not divided into a bunch of damage heroes by a few tanks and healers: in their original staging, the damage was divided between attack and defense . But there were viable defense heroes in attack rounds, and vice versa. So they ended up coming together under a single category.

You probably already understand the crux of the matter: the concept of "harm" is as varied as the template itself. There are them at close quarters, at a distance; some prefer direct combat and others prefer to flank; there are also trappers, hackers, turrets, snipers and even one that teleports and travels in time. What madness! There are no tricks, you will have to visit a guide to know them all in depth.

The heroes of damage are Bastion, Doomfist, Genji, Hanzo, Junkrat, McCree, Mei, Pharaoh, Reaper, Soldier: 76, Shadow, Symmetra, Torbjörn, Tracer and Widowmaker.

Support: overview and tips

"Heroes never Die!" Characters that heal allies or annoy the rivals.

Probably, the first thing that comes to mind when we speak of "support" is "healing". We have many Healers in Overwatch! But it is not its only function. Almost everyone does something else besides heal , such as increasing the damage of allies, providing armor, or even healing in a group.

There are also and there were crossed roles. For example, Symmetra was designed as a support heroine, and was then placed in the damage category. Brigitte, meanwhile, is a support heroine who also shares characteristics associated with the tank.

The current supporting characters of Overwatch are Ana, Brigitte, Lúcio, Mercy, Moira and Zenyatta. In fact, we can advise you more about these characters. You can consult Moira's guide or Brigitte's overview with more information about some of the key characters in the template.

Temporary events: modes and collectibles

Get the new outfits and complete the most difficult modes.

In addition to the standard modes and contents of Overwatch, Blizzard is used to publishing events of different types every few months. We always talk about free content, although they are accompanied by loot boxes that you can get playing or paying.

How do they work exactly? Well, they usually last between three and four weeks and, while they are active, all the loot boxes are replaced by event boxes that contain thematic material of all kinds. Since the events come back every year, the boxes of an event can carry content from the previous year or the current year.

In terms of playable modes and maps, they vary greatly from one event to another. Some, for example, substitute the classic PvP format for another PvE, so they bring a lot of variety to the game. We leave you a list of seasonal events.

Summer games Based on the Olympic Games, they include the Lúcioball mode and the Estádio das Rãs maps and the Sydney arena.

Terrifying Halloween. It has a cooperative PvE mode called Revenge of Junkenstein, a kind of horde mode that runs on an exclusive map, Adlersbrunn. It also modifies the appearance of the Hollywood and Eichenwalde maps.

Winterfell. It incorporates new disputes, the yeti hunt and the snowball fight. Both come with Mei. It also modifies the appearance of maps such as King's Row, Hanamura, Ecopoint: Antarctica and Black Forest.

Lunar new year. Includes a "capture the flag" type mode in an altered version of Lijiang.

Finally, there is Anniversary, which is the result of a restructuring of Archives of 2017. It includes operations that describe the past of the Overwatch corporation, although always responding to a pattern of cooperative mission.

New to Overwatch? Learn the basics

Knowledge is power: we tell you the ins and outs of Overwatch.

How can I improve my aim?

We know it may sound too obvious, but the main and most effective way to improve your efficiency in a game is by playing, there are no tricks. The experience, in hours of game, may not make you improve mechanically, but at least they will make you understand better how the ins and outs of the game work. Keep that in mind first.

Now, we know that it would not be right to leave you with a "play a lot!" and that's it. We can advise you that if you really want to train your aim, enter the training mode of the game and do the following.

First, adjust your sensitivity to a point where you are able to move from side to side and still keep the cursor just above the eye of the training robots as you move. If you pass or you fall short, you should probably touch sensitivity again.

In general, in any shooter you will aim better with a low sensitivity, but this can be problematic when it comes to moving. Maybe you should adjust the sensitivity parameters of heroes separately, so that Zenyatta has the sensitivity lower than Genji, for example.

The floor of the training mode also has some shooting zones. If you put your character on one of these zones, you can practice different types of shooting, such as shooting against static characters, moving from side to side, predictive shots or even the 180 degree turn.

Another fantastic exercise would be to put on a timer and try to destroy all the training robots in the shortest possible time. Thus, you will practice the skills of each character to maximize the damage and reduce the time, forcing you to study the positioning and firing curve.

What is the difference between barrier, armor and shield?

As in any other game, in Overwatch you have a health bar represented graphically and also with numbers. When the bar is empty (your health reaches 0) your character dies. Now, you have noticed that sometimes that bar grows with different colors that temporarily increase (or not) your maximum life. Why?

The health of your hero is represented in a bar divided into segments. Each segment, regardless of its color, occupies 25 points of life. All segments of the bar serve the same purpose: absorb damage. However, color determines the type of health it is, and therefore also its behavior.

The white segments represent your maximum health, and can be regenerated with a normal and ordinary healing.

The shield is represented in light blue, and it is always the first thing that is consumed when receiving damage. Unlike health, this type of protection automatically regenerates at a rate of 25 points per second after remaining 3 seconds out of combat.

The armor, represented in yellow or orange, blocks 5 points of damage for each hit that exerts 10 points of damage or more. In other words, it is excellent to protect you from rifles and submachine guns, as well as Reaper shotguns, for example (and the reason why almost all tanks wear armor). However, it is not very useful against very powerful concentrated shots, such as Pharah's rocket launcher or Hanzo's arrows.

There are two types of armor: the innate armor and the temporary armor. The innate armor is represented in yellow, and the temporary armor in orange. Both serve for the same, but the innate armor can be cured and the temporary one can not. The latter can be accumulated through multiple skills, yes.

Finally, the barrier or personal shield is a type of protection impossible to increase or cure. In fact, it decreases at great speed over time, but it can help to survive a critical situation. This includes the Lúcio shield or the Doomfist shield.

How can I test characters as soon as they are announced?

Heroes, modes and patches always arrive first at the Public Testing World of Battle.net , the Blizzard gaming platform; also called RPP or PTR for short. Normally, they stay there for two, three or four weeks until they are released on official servers.

Since Battle.net can only be used on PC, this means that users of PS4 and Xbox One can only wait until the official launch to test the new content of turn. If you play on PC, you can download and install the RPP as if it were a separate game, but you must have Overwatch purchased with your account to do so.

To do so, from the games tab, select Overwatch and then display the Region / Account button. Select public test region and then install and launch the client to play. Since it works like a different game, it is also updated at a different rate than the official Overwatch servers.

Can I get experience points more quickly?

If you want to get a lot of loot boxes without having to use your credit card, or you are determined to unlock the gold frame, you may want to consider the best ways to get experience points in Overwatch .

The time of the game. You gain something more than 200 points per minute, and another 150 to finish the game.

The victories and consecutive games also increase the pace of points won, and the first victory of the day is worth a whopping 1,500 points.

The medals that you take in each category also increase your final value. Gold is worth 150 points, but if you unlock it in different categories you can multiply your bonus.

Playing in a prefabricated squad gives you an additional 20% experience, but if you leave a running game you will be penalized with 75% less experience.

The mode that scores the most is competitive, but the practice against AI and certain arcade modes gives a lower score. The quick game has a standard rating.

Where can I read more about the Overwatch universe?

Generally, Blizzard cares enough to publish content related to the history and the universe of Overwatch so as not to force you to go to third parties if you want to learn more than what the game itself teaches. However, you will have to go to a browser to see this material as well.
