Ubisoft: Skull & Bones and Black Flag are very different

The game was born from the naval mechanics of Assassin's Creed

When Skull & Bones was presented for the first time in E3 2017, the critics did not wait, since the new IP looked like another Ubisoft game: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag . Although it has been over a year, people continue to think the same, that is why the study recently spoke to point out the differences between these titles.

Bill Money, director of the game, recognized that Skull & Bones was born thanks to Black Flag , since his studio was working on the naval mechanics of the franchise from Assassin's Creed III . The new proposal arose when they began to experiment with their own work.

" Black Flag was definitely a starting point, in our study, we basically did the Black Flag naval combat, it started with ACIII and then we worked in the Black Flag naval mechanics, " Money said during an interview with Segmentnext . "And from there, our first idea [for Skull & Bones ] was 'let's take Black Flag and put 2 players in our world and let's see what happens.' So that was the beginning of everything."

However, Money made it clear that Black Flag and Skull & Bones have very marked differences, despite being games that were born practically of the same idea.

" Black Flag is the base and we've worked on it ever since and now it's a completely different game," continued Money. "It's a ship and we're behind the helm of this ship, so there are similarities, but the rest of the systems are something new and unique." At this point, there are hardly any remnants of Black Flag .

In E3 2018 we could see a new Skull & Bones trailer , however, until now we still do not know a precise launch date. The only thing revealed by Ubisoft is that the pirate title will arrive sometime in 2019.

Skull & Bones will debut on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
